We appreciate hearing from community members with concerns about Birrarung. The groundbreaking legislation which guides our work was made possible by community input, and it remains a vital part of caring for the River.

As an advocacy and advisory body focused on how governance of the River is operating, we are unlikely to intervene in a local decision-making process due to resourcing constraints.

Insights shared with the Birrarung Council can inform our advocacy work and our advice to the Minister for Water and we welcome community comments on issues of significance to the whole River.

Engaging a member of Birrarung Council

Birrarung Council members speak on a range of topics related to their work on the Council. Council members are often asked to speak at water-related conferences, community gatherings or other related events, where they represent the perspective of the Council and advocate for the needs of Birrarung.
